He emphasized that backing from the Islamic world is "extremely important in ensuring the political unity and territorial integrity of the country."
"Through this program, which will contribute to strengthening human and institutional capacity, we will provide project support to Syria in areas such as training, expert exchange, needs analysis, and feasibility studies," Erdogan stated during the 41st COMCEC Ministerial Meeting held in Istanbul.
He highlighted the immense suffering endured by Syrians over the past 14 years, noting: "For nearly 14 years, our Syrian brothers and sisters have paid a heavy price; nearly one million Syrians lost their lives in attacks by the Baath regime and terrorist organizations."
Erdogan also drew attention to the mass displacement caused by the conflict, mentioning that "millions were forced to migrate, including 3.6 million to Türkiye."
He praised Türkiye’s response, asserting that the country had hosted Syrian refugees with generosity and a genuine sense of hospitality, fulfilling its responsibilities of brotherhood and neighborliness.
Reflecting on recent developments, he said, "Praise be to Allah, the oppressed Syrians finally achieved victory."
He further remarked that the brutal years that had rendered Syria a "bloodbath" concluded with the Dec. 8 revolution, and the nation is now entering a phase of reconstruction under the determined leadership of Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara.
