Israeli army forces conduct new raid in Syria’s Quneitra
Accounts indicate that an Israeli patrol made up of two vehicles crossed into the area from the Adnaniyah region in northern Quneitra, where troops established a temporary checkpoint between the villages of Rwihinah and Mushayrifah.
In a separate movement, another Israeli unit entered the town of al-Rafid in southern Quneitra and fired shots into the air without causing casualties. At the same time, a convoy of five military vehicles reportedly moved into the village of Saida al-Hanout, also in the southern countryside.
There was no immediate response from either Israeli military officials or Syrian authorities regarding the reported activities.
In recent weeks, Israeli forces have carried out almost daily incursions into southern Syria, particularly in Quneitra province. These actions have included arrests, the establishment of checkpoints, and the destruction of wooded areas, developments that have increasingly angered local residents.
According to official Syrian figures, since December 2024 Israel has launched more than 1,000 airstrikes on Syrian territory and conducted over 400 cross-border ground raids in the southern regions.
Following the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s government in late 2024, Israel also moved to expand its control of the Syrian Golan Heights by taking over the demilitarized buffer zone, a step that violated a long-standing agreement signed in 1974.
