One person gets killed after motorcycle blew up in Syria

(MENAFN) A motorcycle rigged with explosives detonated late Monday in Al-Bukamal city, eastern Deir ez-Zor province, killing one person, local media reported.

A Syria’s state-run, citing an unnamed security source, said the explosion occurred in the Tuayba neighborhood. Another media organization confirmed that an improvised explosive device planted inside the motorcycle caused the blast.

Since the ouster of Bashar al-Assad in late 2024, Syria’s new administration has implemented measures to restore security, pursued political and economic reforms, promoted social cohesion, and expanded cooperation with regional and international partners. Assad, who led Syria for nearly 25 years under the Baath Party regime, fled to Russia in December 2024. A transitional administration, led by President Ahmad al-Sharaa, was established in January 2025.
