Motorcycle Bomb Blast Kills Man in Syria

(MENAFN) A man lost his life late Monday after a motorcycle packed with explosives detonated in Al-Bukamal, a city located in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor province, according to local reports.

A state-operated broadcaster quoted an unidentified security source who stated that the detonation occurred in the Tuayba district, though no additional information was shared.

Meanwhile, a news agency reported that the explosion was triggered by an improvised explosive device concealed inside the motorcycle.

Following Bashar al-Assad’s removal from power in late 2024, Syria’s newly established government has introduced various initiatives aimed at reestablishing stability, advancing political and economic reforms, encouraging social unity, and strengthening collaboration with both regional and global partners.

Assad, who had ruled Syria for nearly a quarter of a century, fled to Russia last December, marking the end of the Baath Party’s dominance that had lasted since 1963. In January, a transitional leadership headed by President Ahmad al-Sharaa was put in place.
